STEP 2: SEARCHING FOR INSPIRATION
So, you already determined that you want to be the best dressed man at this event. You also know that you want the prefect suit, custom tailored to your liking. You want to feel confident with Every. Step. You. Take.
Wearing a suit is more than just looking great, it is a great tool for increasing your self confidence. Think back to every time you had an special occasion, maybe it was your prom, a baptism, or a church service. You arrived with what you believed to be the best looking suit in the world. Did you walk a little taller? Did you speak a little louder? Did you feel a little bolder? I am sure your answers to these questions were a resounding Yes!
This time is no different. However, you are an adult now, and I don't believe you want just another suit to wear. You may want to add a timeless piece to your wardrobe. Something that you can wear for the years to come. But where do you start? Where can you get the right inspiration?
It is easy to get lost in the endless stream of information that inundate our lives. Have you ever spent 2.5 hours on Instagram or Pinterest, only to forget what you were initially looking for? You knew you were looking for something, but 15 scrolls later, you totally forgot. I know this has happened to me, especially when I don't have a specific target in mind.
This time I had a goal in mind, and it was a suit. But not all suits are created equal, therefore it is up to you to determine which one is going to fit your lifestyle. Personally, I always dreamed of having a pinstripe double breasted suit. I have one on my dream board, and see it daily before I leave my house. Which brings us to one of the most effective tools to get inspiration from, magazines. This stems from the fact that it has a clear beginning and an end, no endless scrolling. They are a great way to create a personal look-book.
Don't get me wrong, I love living in the 21st century. As someone who grew up on a third world country, I do not take technology for granted. Therefore, I also have a digital dream boards, a few Pinterest boards and a "Style Inspiration" photo gallery on my iPhone. All of which I will discuss in more detail at a later post.
Now, keep in mind the most important part of this process of searching for inspiration, is to have fun. Don't restrict your mind. Trust your instincts. Put yourself mentally in the outfit, see yourself already owning it, and looking great in it.
So after a few hours of screen-shooting, searching, pinning, and saving; now comes the exciting part. SHOPPING FOR FABRICS!
